The Ball State University Board of Trustees on Friday made several moves related to two future facilities on the Muncie campus during its final meeting of the academic year.

The approvals include the construction of a new athletics facility, as well as the naming of two parts of the planned $60 million Performing Arts Center.

The board approved a $7.8 million construction budget for the future Eric Foss Championship Performance Center, or CPC. The 10,000-square-foot strength and conditioning facility will be adjacent to Worthen Arena and the Dr. Don Shondell Practice Center.

The CPC is named after the former chairman and CEO of Aramark, who graduated from Ball State in 1980 and gifted $4 million for the facility. [Inside Indiana Business]

Construction on the two-story Gayle and Tom Benson Athletic Complex is still underway, but when it opens, Director of Athletics and Head Coach Joe Scheurmann is confident of its impact.

“I don’t think many junior colleges have a facility like this one,” said Delgado head baseball coach Joe Scheuermann.

The Delgado baseball team is already using the training room and the locker rooms.

Upstairs are coaches’ offices and a foyer that will allow Delgado baseball supporters to watch games from a strategically located mezzanine.

The New Hope-Solebury School District celebrated the groundbreaking of its new stadium project last Wednesday.

The ceremony marked the start of construction for a facility featuring a fieldhouse, additional seating, a modern sound system, and a press box dedicated to Pop-Pop Heath Sr., a beloved figure in local athletics.

The stadium for the New Hope-Solebury Lions is scheduled for completion in fall 2025.

The stadium will cost $2.5 million and approximately $1.2 million has been raised through donations, including a significant contribution from Carl Hj. Asplundh Jr., one of the owners of the Asplundh Tree Experts. [New Hope Free Press]
