A grand jury in Cleveland has decided not to charge Oakland Raiders rookie Gareon Conley with any crimes after a rape investigation.
Spokesman Ryan Miday of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement Monday that the grand jury declined all possible charges for Conley after being presented the facts and circumstances surrounding the sexual assault allegations.
Conley is a defensive back who starred at Ohio State. He was accused by a 23-year-old woman of sexually assaulting her in a Cleveland hotel room April 9. Conley's attorney says the sex was consensual. Conley has cooperated with the investigation and said he passed a polygraph test.
Conley signed a four-year contract with the Raiders on Friday. The team's first-round pick was at training camp Monday.
Jaguars: Left tackle Branden Albert abruptly retired. The two-time Pro Bowl selection was acquired in a trade with the Miami Dolphins in March.
He called it quits at age 32 on Monday after three days of training camp and nine NFL seasons. He had been competing for a starting role with rookie Cam Robinson, a second-round draft pick who now gets the job by default.
Albert skipped most of the team's offseason program because he wanted a new contract. He was scheduled to make $8.8 million in 2017.
Dolphins: Coach Adam Gase says running back Jay Ajayi is being evaluated for a possible concussion.
Ajayi was hurt during Monday's training camp practice after taking a big hit from safety T.J. McDonald. He walked off the field accompanied by trainers.
"I was trying to do my job," McDonald said.
Ajayi had a breakout year for the Dolphins last season, when he ran for 1,272 yards and had consecutive 200-yard games.
Elsewhere: The Redskins signed free agent running back Kenny Hilliard and released running back Keith Marshall with an injury designation. Marshall, who played at Georgia, was injured in Saturday's practice and missed his entire rookie season with an elbow injury. ... The Lions signed outside linebacker Nick Becton and placed OL Tony Hills on the reserve/retired list. ... The 49ers claimed WR Tim Patrick off waivers from the Ravens. ... Former Raiders DB Dave Grayson has died at age 78. Grayson led the AFL with 10 interceptions in 1968.
UTAH: Starting safety Chase Hansen is out indefinitely with an undisclosed injury.
After Monday's practice, coach Kyle Whittingham called the issue a "lingering thing" from before camp started last week.
