Georgia State announced its season opener for the 2017 football season, which will be the Panthers' first game in the facility soon to be formerly known as Turner Field.

Tennessee State will provide the opposition for the Panthers' game scheduled Aug. 31, a Thursday night. The time was not announced.

In its news release, Georgia State referred to the facility as Georgia State Stadium. Should a sponsorship opportunity come the school's way, that name may change by Aug. 31.

The Panthers will play six games in the reconfigured park that had been the home of the Braves since the 1997 season. Other than Tennessee State, the opponents are Memphis and Sun Belt Conference rivals Appalachian State, Idaho, South Alabama and Troy.

The Panthers will face Memphis on Sept. 30. The school will announce other game dates March 1.

"We are excited to be able to open the new home of Georgia State football on Aug. 31," Athletic Director Charlie Cobb said in a news release. "We also look forward to our season ticket holders being able to get a first-hand glimpse of where they will sit later this year."

Season tickets for GSU home games are available online at GeorgiaStateSports.com/Tix.
