Columnist Suffers Broken Leg After Court Storming

A Des Moines Register reporter was caught in the action as Iowa State fans stormed the court after beating in-state rival Iowa in Ames Thursday night. According to the Des Moines Register, Randy Peterson suffered a compound fracture to his tibia and fibula after possibly tangling legs with another attendee during the chaos.

During the court storming fans took note of Peterson’s injury and began live tweeting the event:

Several hours after the incident the Iowa state Director released a statement about the incident:

When asked if Peterson's injury could be used as an example of the dangers of court-storming, Iowa State coach Steve Prohm added: "That's not my decision. That's part of college athletics.”

The Big 12 has begun to outline a protocol addressing the issues of court storming. According to CBS Sports Bob Bowlsby, commissioner for the Big 12, announced he is looking into obtaining the power to retract home victories if fans storm the fields.
