We are thinking of installing a hose bib in each of our two steam rooms to allow users to hose down (clean) the floor and benches. The steam rooms are cleaned nightly by the housekeeping staff but during the day the rooms can get a little grimy with all the usage. We would use tepid water as cold water could crack the tiles. A short length of rubber hose would be attached to each bid. Does anyone have comments, concerns, or experience with this set up? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It is not uncommon to place a hose bib in a steam room because of high maintenance associated with tile. The biggest concern would be to use stainless steel fixtures as this environment will corrode other finishes extremely fast. Also, you might think about using a Powerzone 400 to clean your rooms at night as this eliminates the need to use chemicals to clean the room and it reduces the time associated with keeping the room clean. The unit uses ozone o3 and it gets rid of the musty smell you typically have with tile rooms.

Tim- Check out one of the Nitrogen based products that works 24/7/30+ days. The one I know of is MonoFoil Antimicrobial, from Coeus Technology. It does not allow for and bacteria growth, and is totally organic and safe! No MRSA, STAPH, E-COLI, etc. If you are interested feel free to contact me and I can give you more information.
