We are trying to determine the causes for a haze on a gym floor. I've been told improper (dirty mops/water) cleaning, too thin coats, and improper drying between coats will result in hazing. Thanks for your help.

Joyce: Hazing on your gymnasium floor can easily be attributed to dirty water /mops and improper drying times. Since you have tried these remedies without success, I would suggest a solution I recommend to many maple gym floor facilites departments. Dedicating dust /mops exclusively for the gymnasium will reduce contamination from other surfaces and cleaners which can contribute to the hazing issue. Egis Floorlife uses BonaKemi Pacific Sports Cleaner along with a microfiber mop weekly. The Pacific Sports Cleaner is PH neutral and designed for gym floor finishes. This solution greatly reduces residue and provides the necessary coefficient of friction athletes require. The hazing should greatly deminish when following the manufactures directions. If you are still experiencing hazing, I would suggest reducing the concentration of cleaner.
