Looking for any municipality/institution that has designed a 25m pool for expansion to a 50 meter option later. Has it been done anywhere in North America? What are the design considerations? Cost comparison?

First look at how the existing pool fits into the building and the depths of the pool. There should also be foundation drawings so you are aware of the influence of the exsting structure. Is the deck slab on grade or are there tunnels around the pool. Verify what depths you want and make sure you add to the 50 meters for one or two bulkheads. Is the ding adequate with what you have. When you drain the pool will it all go to one end or do you need drains in the new addition. Verify pipe sizes for you are going to need to probably more than double the flow rate. Are you going to build the new floor and walls out of concrete shotcrete or other materials. Filtration system will need to be enlarged as will heating and chemicals. HVAC systems will also need to be updated. Size of sanitary is important but you may be able to keep what you have. Bleacher or spectator viewing is also important. There is more but this will give you a few of the steps we use. Thanks Bill
