What qualifications should you look for in a tennis coach and how often should their credentials be updated to keep your tennis program top notch?

The qualifications you should look for in a tennis coach depends on the level of tennis programming (and the cost to provide this level of programming) that you are wanting to provide. Playing Experience: Competitive playing experience at the high school or collegiate level is desirable. Ability to work well with parents. Desire to work with children. Tennis Credentials (lowest to highest): USTA Recreational Coaches Workshop USPTA - Developmental Coach or USPTR - Recreational Coach USPTA - Professional 3 or USPTR - Associate Instructor USPTA - Professional 2 or USPTR - Instructor USPTA - Professional 1 or USPTR - Professional USPTA - Master Professional or USPTR - Master Professional Your tennis instructors should be wanting to continue to learn and develop as a professional. They should be attending teaching workshops or taking educational seminars that are provided by USTA, USPTA and USPTA. Therefore you should be updating their credentials once a year and you should be encouraging them to continue to keep their tennis knowledge updated as well.
