I'm looking for information on recreation softball participation in various regions of the country, and what parks and recreation departments are doing with underutilized softball diamonds. Have you converted any fields for other uses, such as growing sports like soccer or lacrosse? If so, did maintenance factor in to the conversion (the ease of caring for just grass versus grass and clay)? Conversely, are there advantages to leaving unused diamonds in place for softball's next comeback?
