My non-profit is in the process of building a indoor sports complex that will have 10-12 basketball court, boxing gym, fitness area, community center, and food court. We are having an investors meeting at the end of the month and we need a little help with making sure all of our figures are right. I'm having a hard time finding a company that will handle the interior design and construction that will give me a estimate to present to our investors. We have everything in order as far as programs and running the facility, but we do not want a opportunity like this to slip through our hands so we are making sure we dot our I's and cross our T's. If you guys have any suggestions or information that can help us as much as possible please e-mail me Dwylie@goodsportsworld.com. edited by GOODKids on 9/1/2011

Where are you? Interiors can be quite local. But you could go to one of the huge firms Gensler, et al.

Our printed Buyers Guide has a section listing Architects by Area, but sadly, our web site still lacks this function. There are many national firms with specialists in sports/recreation architecture as well as interiors, but if it'll help, here are the firms we list in South Carolina:
Boudreaux Group, The 1200 Park St. Columbia, SC 29201 www.boudreauxgroup.com
Craig, Gaulden & Davis P.O. Box 2527 Greenville, SC 29602 www.cgdarch.com
DP3 Architects 211 E. Broad St. Greenville, SC 29601 www.dp3architects.com
Enwright Associates Inc. P.O. Box 5287, Station B Greenville, SC 29606 www.enwrightwellness.com
Key Collins Architecture 1807 Cherokee Road Florence, SC 29501 www.keycollins.com
McMillan Smith & Partners Architects PLLC P.O. Box 5331 Spartanburg, SC 29304 www.mcmillansmith.com

Have you developed a program to determine the size structure you need to house all of your proposed activities? That's one of the first things we do with our clients to help them determine the size of building they need. We could work with you to determine the project parameters and develop the program for your facility. Once you determine the size of your facility, the type of construction to be used, and how you want the building to look, your architect will be able to give you an estimate on how much the physical building and development costs would be. The cost of the facility can vary depending on what level of finishes you want to use. We have worked extensively with our local rec departments and would be glad to assist you in any way. Feel free to contact me at rpittman@la-architects.com or 864-968-0224 to discuss your project.

The building is 106,000 square feet, we will utilize about 86,000 square feet for the basketball court. I have a 3D model of the facility, we are trying to get a accurate estimate of what it will cost for the interior of the building.

It sounds like what you are looking for is a construction manager at risk. (more than a GC or a norm cm)
