I am looking for information from any Corporations who have their own Wellness/Fitness Center that charge their employees a user fee. What is the monthly fee? Do you charge spouses, retirees, and dependents for use as well? How do employees enroll? Can they participate month by month or is it an annual enrollment similar to health benefit packages??

We manage an on-site fitness center for a large company. When it first opened, 7 years ago, there was no fee for employees to use the center. They simply had to fill out an application (name, email, waiver, etc.) and they were given a membership number to check in when they arrived at the front desk. Last year, however, to prevent a reduction in services as a result of budget cuts, the company started to charge employees a small fee for use of the on-site center. Employees are charged $10/month. They have to fill out a payroll deduction form (we do not collect fees at the center) and security access request (their ID badge will then allow them access to the fitness center) along with an application. Because the site is a "secure" campus, no spouses or dependents can get on site. Employees are not locked in and can cancel their payroll deduction at any time.

Hope that helps!

Thank you! Can you tell me if there was a significant reduction in "members" once the monthly fee started??

There was a LOT of complaining--mostly from a vocal minority who just didn't seem to understand that it was either do without the service or pay a small fee. Our "membership list" was pretty close to previous levels within 4 months and grows a little each month. Usage has continued to climb when we looked at year to year comparisons.

We have a membership of approximately 23,000 so to date, we don't charge our employees any fee to use the gym facilities, but we charge full fare for spouses.

Hi, I wanted to find out how to best market a program used by 32 NFL Teams, NCAA, Olympics, NASCAR, Corporate Wellness, Weight Management involving Sports Performance, Nutrition. Are there any contacts that would be good to approach?

I love these types of facilities; I find them more attractive than insurances...which are hardly useful!
