Stone Creek Club & Spa

Covington, La.

Year in Showcase: 2010

Project Description

Stone Creek Club & Spa is a privately owned, membership-supported club serving the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain. The building provides facilities for fitness, tennis, swimming and spa services and is planned to serve both member and non-member populations. A key feature of the plan is the ability for the public to approach the building from two different directions without creating access control issues.

The design derives inspiration from the beautiful wooded and wetland areas that surround the facility. The interior experience is enhanced by open views of activity spaces, daylighting and easy wayfinding. The colors and materials deliver an enriched experience for the members but are quite practical from an operational point of view. The exterior architecture is designed to break down the scale of this very large building and provide people-pleasing verandahs for dramatic overviews of the aquatics and tennis components.

Stone Creek’s spacious fitness area, which is adjoined by a full-court gymnasium, features two-story floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a natural wooded area. The second-floor cardio area overlooks the ground-floor resistance training area and the woods outside. The tennis facility is composed of six clay courts and six hard-surface courts, spacious viewing areas and a lighted practice court with a hitting wall. All 12 courts are brilliantly lit with 12,000 watts per court on 30-foot light poles to create a professional-quality playing experience.

Comments:

The Better Business Bureau reviewed the complaint by baker58 and found that the club responded to the complaint(s) addressing the disputed issues and exhibited a good faith effort to resolve the complaint satisfactorily. The BBB has since closed the file and we retained our A- rating. Our club is proud to be listed in this showcase and has since won Sophisticated Woman magazine's 2010 readers poll for Best Health Club, Best Tennis, Best Day Spa, and Best Pilates here on the North Shore. We want to thank our members and all members of the local community for voting for us.

Stone Creek is an awful small place that charges huge fees for everything, and worse... its run by extremely incompetent management. Stone Creek promises amenities (and charges for amenities) that aren't actually available there. Join Francos or PAC if looking for a well run place on the Northshore. Those clubs have way more to offer with lots of amenities which the management actually delivers, unlike at Stone Creek. Stone Creek is a small, expensive waste opf your time... its a rip off and just has awful and stupid management who do pretty much nothing.

I have been a member of many health and fitness clubs over the years. "The Creek" is by far the best all around fitness facility in the South. The tennis staff, fitness staff, and service teams, and the facility itself, rival many 5 star resorts in this country.

Craig Courtney  Engineer  6/19/2010 1:43:11 PM

Stone Creek is by far, the finest fitness club in this region. The attention and detail to customer service are outstanding.

As a member and a fitness intructor @ SC Plus other clubs in the greater New Orleans area. No doubt the best club around.
