Project Description
Modeled in part on the huge (and hugely popular) 365,000-squarefoot RDV Sportsplex in Orlando, MVP Sportsplex hopes to serve a similar demographic as the original facility, closing the gap between the deconditioned population and fitness buffs. There is something for almost everyone in the facility’s amenity-rich environment. Key activity areas include two full-size basketball courts, six indoor tennis courts, three multipurpose exercise studios, two outdoor pools, an indoor lap pool with play area, a sauna, a steam room and a fitness center.
Special attention was given to carrying the RDV theme from Florida to Michigan. Primary blue, red and yellow colors, as well as the distinctive RDV/MVP star logo, are featured prominently in the kids’ area, the pool, group exercise studios and even the outdoor pool slide.With more than 300 pieces of fitness equipment, as well as “exertainment” activities such as dance pads, the membership base continues to grow.
The primary design goal was to create an open, inviting and dynamic building that enhances the natural flow and functionality of the various spaces. The dramatic entry beckons users inside. Once in the lobby, members can see clearly into the gym, indoor pools and fitness floor, creating a sense of excitement and anticipation for all users. The richly appointed fixtures and finishes look and feel inviting.
