Charles Town, WV, Feb. 12, 2013 - American Public University (APU) and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) today announced a partnership that aligns APU's fully-online B.S. in Sports & Health Sciences program with NASM's Certified Personal Trainer (NASM-CPT) certification to prepare students for the NASM-CPT exam. Certification holders are eligible to receive credit through APU's transfer credit evaluation process, which awards students credit for college-equivalent prior learning, allowing them to complete the program in less time.
Beginning with January 2013 course starts, APU students enrolled in Exercise Programming and Testing (SPHE420), will be instructed by NASM-certified APU faculty. The NASM-CPT certification, considered to be one of the most respected personal training credentials, pioneered the exclusive Optimum Performance Training (OPT) method - the first science-based training system in the health and fitness industry.
