Paterson, NJ - Add Sport Management adjunct professor to the accolades of Wayne Martin, now entering his fourth season as the Director of Athletics at Passaic County Community College (PCCC). Mr. Martin is currently teaching “Principles of Sport Marketing” on Monday evenings at the PCCC Main Campus, located in downtown Paterson, New Jersey.

“I am thrilled to bring my sports experience and business knowledge to the classroom,” said Martin who, in addition to extensive experience as an athletic director and coach, also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and a Master's of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from Long Island University.

Students enrolled in PCCC’s Sport Marketing course are introduced to key aspects of sports marketing coupled with principles and basic applications. Discussions regarding intercollegiate athletics, fitness operations, amateur sports and professional sports are emphasized to broaden awareness.  Students also learn how to develop a marketing plan and a sponsorship proposal during the course.

The Sports Management program was introduced three years ago at PCCC. Students have the option to pursue an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Business Administration with a Sports Management emphasis or a Certificate of Achievement in Sports Management. Plans are underway to expand transfer programs with four-year colleges and universities for students who wish to continue their studies in sports administration towards a bachelor’s degree.

“The field of Sport Management offers a wide range of job opportunities from executive level to support staff,” said Martin who believes
“the possibilities are endless for students pursuing a career in the sports industry.”

Employing tactics of business and athletics in the classroom, Martin encourages his students to consider themselves as a “Marketing Brand” with respect to specific endeavors and to always strive for success.
