OLC Wins Excellence in Design Awards in Public Recreation and Medical Wellness

DENVER, Colo. (November 11, 2015) – Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative (OLC) has been honored by two well-known associations for excellence in design of recreation and wellness facilities.

The Columbine Award for New Facility Design from the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association was awarded to the City of Commerce City for the hugely successful Paradice Island at Pioneer Park, a state of the art family aquatic center.  â€śIt was a joy working with everyone on this project - truly a model of collaboration between the City, project managers, residents and the OLC design team,” said Brian Beckler, OLC’s senior principal and Architectural Project Manager. “From the start, we knew how important this project was to the City, not just to build the first new pool in decades, but to help strengthen Commerce City's community identity and to ensure that the first project of Initiative 2K was a rousing success.  I believe that Paradice Island at Pioneer Park is a jewel in the City's Parks and Recreation department.  We are thrilled with the project's outcome, especially for residents and families, which makes this award that much sweeter for Commerce City. ”

The second honor is from the Medical Fitness Association and was given to OLC for excellence in facility design.  OLC has designed more than 45 such facilities in the U.S., making it the nation's leading medical wellness design firm.  The MFA is a national organization founded to assist Hospitals and Health Care Organizations  in development and management of medically integrated health and fitness centers. The Association is a professional membership organization whose mission is to ascertain and respond to the needs of medically integrated centers throughout the world.

“We are true thought leaders in this industry.” said Hervey Lavoie, OLC's president and lead medical fitness facility designer. “OLC was there when this industry was in its infancy and we are still working on the cutting edge today, as Medical Fitness becomes a major force in the emerging healthcare focus on population health.”
