Roseville, MN – September 23, 2016 – Epoch Lacrosse and its engineering staff have once again pushed the technological envelope with the introduction of their Made in the USA Dragonfly 7 composite shaft featuring Intelligent Weave Technology.  Epoch’s proprietary Intelligent Weave Technology is designed to stabilize the hands and push energy towards the head of the stick when passing or shooting.  Also new for 2017, Epoch has incorporated their carbon fiber weave into the graphic design of the Dragonfly 7 for a “technology you can see” look.  Dragonfly fans will also notice the improved paint finish and tighter fitting butt end.  The Dragonfly 7 is now available at authorized Epoch Lacrosse dealers nationwide. Visit www.EpochLacrosse.com to learn more about the this revolutionary carbon fiber composite lacrosse shaft, the Dragonfly 7, and see more detailed images.

“Our Intelligent Weave Technology allows for a more uniform construction of the shaft as the carbon filaments in each tow are spread out to create a thinner woven fabric that helps reduce weight, provides optimal mechanical performance and minimal voids in the layup,” said Jason Daniel, Epoch Composite Product Engineer. “Something called ‘Crimp' occurs when fibers of woven carbon bend around other fibers, reducing the mechanical properties in that area. By reducing ‘Crimp’ we can decrease the weight of a shaft by reducing non-essential material and maintaining the structural integrity needed in a lacrosse shaft.”

Engineered deep into the composite layup, Epoch’s Advanced Carbon Layering (A.C.L) manages the dynamic and responsive areas separately from the static areas. The Dragonfly’s Uniform Release provides a consistent flex profile throughout the top 2/3 of the shaft regardless of a players hand positioning. Epoch has stated that having a uniform release is substantially beneficial over a localized “kick point” or flex point, because unlike golf or hockey, a player’s hands are always moving depending on the player’s position on the field. The Dragonfly 7 is proudly made in the USA and is available in multiple geometries and flex options.

“We are proud to say that players are now looking to us to set the benchmark in lacrosse equipment design and technology,” said James Miceli, Principal of Epoch Lacrosse. “We took a no holds bar approach in the design of the Dragonfly 7. Our engineers, lacrosse players themselves, have taken full advantage of our new state-of-the-art 10,000 square foot manufacturing facility to design, develop and manufacture what we feel is the most technologically advanced lacrosse shaft ever. We are always looking at new technologies and materials and how we can incorporate them into the designs of our next generation of products. It is our belief that good is never good enough.”
