Alpharetta, GA. – December 12, 2014 – Guardian Caps, makers of a soft-shell helmet technology proven to reduce the impact of hits up to 33 percent, today congratulates four high school State Champion football teams that wore Guardian Caps during the 2014 football season.

“We want to congratulate all of our champions this football season,” said Lee Hanson, co-founder of Guardian Caps. “These coaches, athletes and their parents should be commended for a championship season and we applaud their willingness to implement improved protective equipment.”

The following teams practiced and/or competed in the Guardian Caps during this football season and brought home the 2014 State Championship title:

  • Bishop Kelly High School – Idaho: Division 4A State Champions
  • Corona Centennial High School – California: CIF Southern Pac5 State Champions
  • Palos Verdes High School – California: CIF Southern Western State Champions
  • Webb School of Knoxville – Tennessee: Division 2A State Champions

The above teams are four of more than 300 teams at the youth, high school and collegiate levels wearing Guardian Caps, a one-size fits all 7oz. soft-shell helmet cover worn on the outside of the helmet containing the proper density, stiffness and energy absorbing properties to reduce the initial severity of the impact by up to 33 percent. Bowl eligible collegiate teams that opted to implement the Guardian Cap in practice include Clemson University and the University of Oklahoma.

The Guardian Cap was developed by Lee and Erin Hanson, owners of a material science company that does work for the military, aerospace, sporting goods, oil and gas, and other industries and has worked with Aerojet, 3M, Boeing and Oakley among others. The Hanson’s have more than 18 years of experience in developing impact reduction technologies and the Guardian Cap stems from extensive research and testing before coming to market in 2012.

“We commend the teams for their hard work displayed on the field and their extra steps to adopt every equipment option for their athletes during the 2014 season,” said Erin Hanson, co-founder of Guardian Caps. “We look forward to continuing to support not only these programs, but additional teams across the nation in the game we love.”

About Guardian Caps
Founded in 2011, the Guardian team was born from The Hanson Group, a material science company with almost two decades of engineering expertise.  The Guardian Cap is a product on the forefront of helmet technology. The lightweight soft-shell helmet cover fits both lacrosse and football helmets and reduces impact up to 33%. Physics says that an outer “soft” material of the proper density, stiffness and energy absorbing properties reduces the initial severity of the impact. Guardian Caps are here to reduce the impact athletes feel in a hit by dampening the force of impacts and extending them. For more information, please visit: www.guardiancaps.com.
