(MILWAUKEE, WIS.) – August 24, 2016 – The Master Lock Company has introduced a new shackle shroud to help schools and recreational facilities upgrade the security of their existing combination padlock systems. Four new shrouded padlock models have also been introduced, offering facility administrators and managers a cost-effective option to enhance the security of their combination padlock system, compared to using standard combination padlocks alone.
The 1596 Shackle Shroud encloses the shackle of the combination padlock, blocking access and protecting the shackle from cutting or shimming. It fits around a standard 3/4-inch tall shackle and is comprised of three important components: a shroud covers the shackle, the back plate fastens the shroud in place, and a tamper-resistant screw helps prevent removal of the shroud. It also can be used to retrofit existing combination padlocks, such as the 1502, 1525, 1572 and 1585 models.
The four new models combine the combination padlock with a shackle shroud. The 1591 is a number dial combination padlock with a shackle shroud, and the 1592 adds a key control feature. The 1593 model is a Letter Lock™ combination padlock with a shackle shroud, and the 1594 is a Letter Lock combination padlock that includes the key control benefit. Available customization options include laser engraving and colored dials in blue, green, red, orange, purple, gray or gold.
