Evoqua Water Technologies today announced that Neptune Benson® and its Defender® filter and ETS-UV disinfection products are filtering and disinfecting the water at this year’s U.S. Swim Trails being held in Omaha, Nebraska.

The U.S. Swim Trials, held June 26 thru July 3, are the only selection meet for the U.S. Swim Team to qualify for the Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro. The trials themselves have become a major event and are expected to draw more than 200,000 attendees this year.

“The Swim Trials are a special event” said John Ireland, Director of Technical Services at Myrtha Pools. “They represent the best swim athlete’s in the U.S. and of those, only a select few go on to represent the United States at the Summer Games. As such, great care goes into the facility design and equipment. Only the best materials and products are used.”

The facility consists of two temporary pools designed by Myrtha Pools; one, a 10 lane competition pool, the other an 8 lane L-shaped warm-up pool. The event and pools will host approximately 1,800 swimmers over the course of 8 days, including some of the nation’s top seeded swimmers.

“This event and the facility it is conducted in are special in multiple ways.” said Ken Rodi, President of Neptune Benson. “The pools are built from the ground up specifically for the Swim Trials. Despite their temporary nature, everything from design to water quality has to be top-notch in order to ensure the conditions are right for peak swim times and performance. Our partner, Spear Corporation, installed Defender Regenerative Media Filters and ETS-UV Disinfection Systems on pre-made skids so they could be easily installed for this event, then removed once the competition is complete.”

Select swimmers and facility managers are invited to tour the construction behind the scenes to see exactly how the pools are constructed and what products are used.

“The selection of our products for the Swim Trials is both an honor for us and a testament to the quality of our products.” said Ken Rodi. “We’re excited to be involved with such a prestigious event.”
