COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO/February 3, 2014 ā€” A new online course, Field Service Professional Training, helps new and seasoned pool operators and service professionals become masters at routine pool maintenance. The course shows how to effectively perform routine maintenance on residential and commercial swimming pools and spas.

Created by non-profit National Swimming Pool FoundationĀ® training is loaded with how-to videos, providing interactive learning about circulation systems, filters, chemical dosing systems, heaters, cleaning and vacuuming systems, automatic controllers and acid washing. There are three to four videos in each learning section ā€“ such as, ā€œHow to clean the hair and lint strainerā€ and ā€œHow to perform a backwash.ā€ The online course also includes thirteen maintenance checklists that can be used at each job site, plus a 38 page printable Resource Guide. The cost is just $55.00 USD per student for each course, and includes access to the online training for six months once purchased. People can register for the Field Service Professional Training course at www.nspf.org and click on aquatic training courses, by emailing [email protected] or by calling 719-540-9119.

ā€œThis course takes service pros and operators to the next level by providing real how-to training, online,ā€ said Alex Antoniou, Ph.D., NSPF Director of Educational Programs. ā€œThe Field Service Professional Training course was developed for those who want more specific routine maintenance training, giving them extra confidence before they tackle the next field job,ā€ explained Antoniou.

NSPF surveyed its instructors and service pros who have been certified by the CPOĀ® certification course, those who have passed the Pool Operator Primerā„¢ online course, and people who have taken NSPFā€™s newer Basics courses on pool care and water chemistry. Many requested a ā€œnext-level trainingā€ with a how-to online course that trains on the fieldwork of pool and spa maintenance.

ā€œEverything we do, we believe, will help more people live healthier lives. To do that, it is important that pools, spas and aquatic facilities are operated or serviced by qualified professionals, keeping pools safer, and open,ā€ added Thomas M. Lachocki, Ph.D., CEO of the National Swimming Pool Foundation.

ā€œThus,ā€ he said, ā€œproviding a technically sound, convenient course like the Field Service Professional Online Training course is a natural progression to help us meet our mission.ā€
