At IHRSA 2014 Technogym is unveiling the “Let’s Move for a Better World” global campaign, an initiative running from April 3 – May 2 that allows fitness facilities to connect with their members and local communities. In fitness facilities all over the world, members will be able to use the physical exercise they complete and “donate” it to an important project that helps to promote wellness and advocate for healthy lifestyles in schools.

Thanks to Technogym’s mywellness cloud – the first cloud-computing platform in the fitness industry – participants will be able to measure MOVEs – the Technogym unit for measuring movement – and share their exercise with the community. The most active facility in each country - i.e. the one that reaches the highest number of MOVEs at the end of the campaign - will be able to donate a set of equipment provided by Technogym to a local school of their choice.

At IHRSA in San Diego, the initiative will be replicated and dedicated to Augie’s Quest, the Augie Nieto fundraising and research initiative aimed at finding more effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). ALS destroys the nerve cells controlling muscles, ultimately causing complete paralysis while leaving mental function intact. Survival is typically three to five years after diagnosis, and no cure currently exists.

Visitors to Technogym’s booth (number2138) will be able to exercise and donate their MOVEs: for each MOVE collected, Technogym will donate 25 cents to Augie’s Quest to cure ALS. Participants will be able to see their results through a screen at the center of the booth that will display information in real time, including the total number of donated MOVEs, participants’ ranking and encouragement for people to train more.

Let’s Move for a Better World represents a great opportunity for fitness facilities to attract and engage their members as well as helps to increase motivation and loyalty through creation of competitions, training groups and events within the fitness facility. This unique competition is the result of Technogym's twenty-year-long commitment to wellness as a chance for building a more sustainable society based on personal health and well-being. Educating the younger generations is an important goal for the entire sector and Let’s Move for a Better World helps to make a meaningful contribution towards this common objective.
