USA Football, EA Sports Honor Youth Flag Football Players

USA Football and EA Sports are partnering this fall to identify and honor top youth flag football players across the nation through the USA Football Playmaker of the Year program, presented by EA Sports Madden NFL 16.

As the national governing body of the sport, USA Football unifies the football community nationwide, inspiring participation, creating positive playing experiences and teaching the sport’s fundamentals.

“Flag football offers young athletes the fun of playing the sport, dynamic exercise and the game’s timeless, inherent values,” USA Football CEO and Executive Director Scott Hallenbeck said. “We are pleased to partner with EA Sports to celebrate the fitness, increased self-esteem and greater academic achievement that playing football and other youth sports affords our kids.”

Coaches and league administrators in any of the 1,200 NFL FLAG powered by USA Football leagues can nominate players at USAFootball.com/playmaker. Sixty nominees – 20 per week – will be selected to compete through online voting Nov. 24 to Dec. 20 for the opportunity to be named finalists. USA Football also will nominate one boy or girl from each of its eight regional tournaments leading to the NFL FLAG Championship at Super Bowl 50 in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The 14 finalists will submit videos showcasing why they should be named USA Football Playmaker of the Year. One grand prize winner will be selected and receive an all-expenses paid trip for two to San Francisco, site of the NFL FLAG national championship; two tickets to the NFL Experience; an Xbox One gaming system; and a copy of EA Sports Madden 16.

More than 260,000 boys and girls age 5-17 in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., participate in NFL FLAG powered by USA Football. The non-contact football program emphasizes fun, teamwork, fitness and goal-setting.

USA Football educates more high school and youth tackle and flag coaches combined than any organization in the United States.
