The last time the Eagles won an NFL championship, the game was played at Franklin Field, the team's home from 1958-70. As part of this year's training camp schedule, one of the Birds' three open practices will take them back there for what's believed to be the first time since 1970.
The date is Sunday, Aug. 10, with a start time of 12:15 p.m. That's subject to change.
"We are excited to have the Eagles return," said Steve Bilsky, Penn's outgoing director of athletics. "The Eagles enjoyed so many memorable moments here, and we think [it] will be a great day for the franchise and the fans to revisit this historic venue. Penn is honored to welcome . . . the Eagles . . . back to our campus, and we think it will be fantastic day for everyone involved."
The Eagles also will have open practices on July 28 and Aug. 3 at Lincoln Financial Field. All are free. But unlike last year, the two at the Linc will not require a ticket for entry.
Tickets for the Franklin Field practice will be available on July 16 at 10 a.m. by logging onto PennAthletics.com/Eagles. There's a limit of six per order. Any questions can be addressed by calling 215-898-6151 or by emailing tickets@pobox,upenn.edu.
Training camp opens July 25 at the NovaCare Complex.
