LEOMINSTER - School district officials have launched an investigation into Leominster High School Athletic Director Chris Young after Superintendent James P. Jolicoeur suspended Mr. Young with pay Friday.
Meanwhile, Mr. Young's secretary, Robin Kowesky, has been reassigned to the school district's central office, and central office administrator Lauren Cipolla, a former physical education and health teacher, has been appointed interim athletic director, Mr. Jolicoeur said.
While the superintendent, citing personnel confidentiality, declined to say what the investigation of Mr. Young is about, he said Ms. Kowesky has been moved to "a better working environment."
Also, locks have been changed at the athletic director's office at the high school "as part of our security procedures to isolate the office where there's been a leadership transition," the superintendent said.
"We have to do our investigation now. We have to do our due diligence," Mr. Jolicoeur said. "We're getting the pieces together to start our work."
Mr. Jolicoeur declined to say whether outside investigators, including police, will be part of the investigation into Mr. Young's activities.
Mr. Young, 52, came to the door at his home a few blocks from the high school Monday afternoon but declined to speak with a reporter.
Mr. Young, a Leominster High graduate and former assistant football coach and longtime girls basketball coach, became athletic director in 2002.
