Jackson (Tenn.) Police Department has confirmed that a woman was found dead in a Gold's Gym sauna in the city of Jackson earlier this month.
According to an incident report a 70-year-old female presumably suffered a medical episode while in the sauna at Gold’s Gym, located on Vann Drive in Jackson.
A report shows that the woman checked into the gym around 11:51 a.m. and was later found by gym staff in the sauna around 5:23 p.m.
Allison Oran, director of marketing and communications for the Gold's Gym, told WBBJ that the woman experienced a sudden cardiac episode while in the sauna. Oran said that upon discovering the woman, she was immediately removed from the sauna and the gym's general manager attempted chest compressions.
The woman's body was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital’s North campus, where second and third degree burns were observed all over her body.
Oran said that the woman had a preexisting medical condition, and shared that the woman also experienced a similar medical incident while in the gym’s sauna in 2023.
