Two Explosive Devices Found at Florida Park

Six teens were arrested after an explosive device went off in a Florida park and a second was found device was found in the park.

Police went to the Louis A. Vanech Recreation Center around 10:30 p.m. on Monday after receiving calls that there were people in the park after hours.

Once they arrived, officials made contact with multiple people and began to canvass the area around the rec center.

During this time, a device exploded near the racquetball courts. Following the first explosion, deputies located a second device.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad came to the scene and detonated the second device, which officials determined was an acid bomb. No one was injured by either device.

Four of the suspects are considered adults and were taken to the Pinellas County Jail. The other two suspects were taken to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center.
