Newtown Athletic Club, a private health club in Pennsylvania, has undergone an impressive transformation through three projects covering the past three years: a 12,000-square-foot fitness expansion and interior remodel of club areas including studios, locker rooms, a salon, a spa and a café; a four-acre outdoor resort-style waterpark; and a 41,000-square-foot sports training center that houses baseball, soccer, lacrosse, gymnastics and cheerleading training and development programs.

The $1.8 million fitness expansion included modernizing the facility’s interior spaces utilizing a cohesive, yet fun color palette. Warm light greens, yellows and browns are punctuated with bursts of deep, rich reds and oranges. The training center exterior uses this same color scheme, but the interior features bright and playful primary colors, as does the salon. The glass wall of the fitness expansion brings in daylight and offers a sweeping view of the aquatic complex. The pool’s subtle seaside theme is communicated through brick pavers, white and light blue colors, and hammock-style deck chairs.

Lit for nighttime use, the pool complex layout was designed to create opportunities for separation of age groups without isolation. There is an adult-only pool area close to the bar with lounge chairs, a whirlpool and a fire pit, but there are also views to the lazy river, slides, splash pad and family leisure pool.
