Dr. John N. Briggs Wellness Center

Naples, FL
Construction Cost: $15 million
Area / Square Feet: 80,645
Occupancy Date: November 2006

The NCH Briggs Health Pavilion is home to four clinical departments: Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab, Outpatient Physical Therapy, the Von Arx Diabetes Center of Excellence and the Dr. John N. Briggs Wellness Center. The project overcame numerous challenges, including a small downtown footprint and a requirement to share the construction entrance with hospital employees as well as patrons of the existing medical plaza building.

An elaborate curtainwall system and stucco-coated CMUs comprise the facility?s exterior shell. Inside, high-end, eye-catching finishes include slate and glass tile, stained wood trim, copper panels, granite countertops and glass handrails. In addition, floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of downtown Naples.

Each floor of this new landmark features a variety of amenities and state-of-the-art equipment. On the first floor are a 600-square-foot therapy pool, a special-needs aerobics room and locker rooms, as well as relaxing spas, saunas and massage rooms. The second floor has cardiovascular fitness and strength-training equipment, along with two large group fitness rooms. A second-level skywalk connects the facility to the adjacent medical building and parking garage. An unfinished third floor is slated for use by future medical tenants. Outside, a 2,800-square-foot heated lap pool completes the program.
