The $24 million addition and renovation of the Student Recreation Center included extensive modifications to the existing facility and additions on all four sides of the building, including a naturally lit 100-yard indoor practice field and a field house with a 300-meter track. The recreation facility includes multipurpose gymnasium space for basketball, volleyball and badminton; a multiuse space for a summer camp program, sports clubs and student organizations; additional space for cardiovascular equipment; family dressing rooms adjacent to the existing pool; meeting rooms; offices and storage.

An additional multisport gym, bowling lanes, squash courts and an entrance control desk were also a part of the project. A new wellness program required the addition of private evaluation areas and a demonstration kitchen. Classrooms that can be used for group exercise, meetings and class instruction were created, as well. Fitness equipment areas were grouped in locations around the rec center and include quiet exercise spaces and more vibrant workout areas, while restrooms and locker rooms were modified for enhanced privacy.

The project also included relocating functions, modifying spaces for offices, creating new access points and stairs, and upgrading finishes in select areas. Exterior improvements included a viewing area for the adjacent outdoor track, an intramural field adjacent to the field house, and renovations to other fields to accommodate areas displaced by the field house.
