The Uytengsu Aquatics Center expanded and renovated the existing McDonald Olympic Swim stadium at the University of Southern California. Intended initially as a temporary facility for the 1984 Olympic Games, the pools were later converted for campus recreation and use by USC intercollegiate athletics. Over time, USC’s successful aquatics programs outgrew the facility, creating the need for additional stadium seating, expanded locker rooms, coaches and athletes’ training facilities, and other amenities.

The newly expanded and renovated swim center boasts new stadium seating for 1,200 spectators, a new shade canopy structure, LED lighting for night-time competitive events, a new LED video scoreboard, and the flexibility to accommodate up to 2,500 spectators for larger events.

A common room between the men’s and women’s locker rooms acts as a lounge and meeting room dedicated to student-athletes of both genders. A multipurpose room at the west end of the 50-meter pool provides space for large events, with a folding glass window wall opening directly to the pool deck. Coaches’ offices and a second-level balcony are located directly above the pools for overseeing practices.
