The Center for Sport Sciences (CSS) is a comprehensive indoor athletic training facility on the campus of Wilmington College, a private liberal arts institution affiliated with the Religious Society of Friends (“The Quakers”). Constructed in the heart of the Athletics Quadrant of campus, the facility is a unique partnership between Wilmington College, Clinton Memorial Hospital, Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, and Drayer Physical Therapy Institute and Chiropractic Care, providing a continuum of care for athletes of all ages. By combining space for athletic practices, athletic training, rehabilitation and faculty offices, the facility is a one-stop shop for training and recovery.

The facility is foremost a comprehensive indoor athletic training facility, constructed just east of the existing football and track stadium, and directly adjacent to a 60,000-square-foot synthetic turf field. The Center for Sport Sciences features a hydro-training area, a recruitment room, classroom space, administrative offices and a 15,000-square-foot synthetic turf field. It also features professional services such as physical therapy, orthopedic care and imaging.

As a Quaker institution, the aesthetic of the facility was inspired by values of simplicity, austerity and efficiency within a modern composition of simple materials, forms and volume.
