The Aberdeen Aquatic Center replaced two aging pools in this South Dakota town that were suffering from numerous structural and mechanical problems. The result is a facility that includes a leisure pool with water slides and several interactive play features, a lazy river that can be accessed from both the leisure pool and the plunge pool, body and innertube flume slides, and a competitive pool that can accommodate swim meets.

The site is enhanced by decks with chaise lounges, shade structures, sun-andturf spaces, sand-play areas, a shelter that can be reserved and rented for private functions, landscaped environments and the use of primary colors throughout.

The Aberdeen Aquatic Center combines competitive and leisure components in one facility, linked by strategic and effective landscaping that gives each segment of the facility its own character and privacy.
