Grapeland Heights, a 13-acre park located just south of Miami International Airport, was completed in three phases. Phase I included a baseball complex with four lighted grass fields for youth and adult league and tournament play. In the center of the complex is a two-story building that houses a concessions area, restrooms, storage space and meeting rooms, and acts as a central hub. Native landscaping and perimeter parking complement the facilities.

Phase II incorporated an aquatics complex with four pools designed for everyone from tots to adults. Amenities include a small activity pool, water playgrounds, a 600-foot lazy river and a resort-style pool with beach entry and a maximum depth of five feet. The third phase features a 5,600-square-foot community center that houses the park’s offices, restrooms and multipurpose rooms.

A playful sculpture of a pirate girl at the aquatic center’s entrance adds whimsy to the facility.
