The University Center at Nova Southeastern University was conceived as a mixed-use hub of student, faculty and public activity. Totaling more than 300,000 square feet, the center supports student recreation and activities, intercollegiate athletics and performing arts.

Exterior design elements respect the existing campus palette of glass and precast concrete. Activity spaces are visible from the exterior during both day and night. Inside, a galleria spine is the primary organizing element for all social activity.

The facility’s three levels include fitness space, racquetball courts, a two-court gymnasium, a climbing wall, multipurpose rooms, lockers and support facilities. Secure access is provided to the pool and sun deck areas. The arena meets the university’s requirement of 5,400 seats for concerts and commencement ceremonies. It provides adequate space for banquets and other events, but also an intimate environment for intercollegiate basketball and volleyball. Upper-level seating can be sealed off by 50-foot-high stacking partitions to create an even more intimate atmosphere. The performing arts wing includes a black box theater, a scenery-construction workshop, a dance theater and academic facilities.
