Entering the Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Institute, patients are greeted by energetic and vibrant colors that are part of a design that emphasizes the concept of “man in motion.” Hand-machined metal laminates, flowing lines, circles and curving arcs serve to create a contemporary “street edge” feel while also establishing a healthy and active environment.

Designed with future expansion in mind, the facility houses four doctors’ offices, eight exam rooms, two signature VIP suites, an exercise therapy area, a human performance lab, a hydrotherapy pool, a mezzanine, and men’s and women’s locker rooms.

The waiting area features images of Houston sports icons, and wall art inside the exam rooms reiterates the design concepts through positive athletic images and inspirational phrases. The VIP signature suites have personal computers, desk space, private restrooms and larger examination tables. Hallways outside the exam rooms display paraphernalia from numerous Houston-based professional and collegiate sports organizations.

The fitness area is flooded with natural light from panoramic windows, providing an extra boost of energy for users. Those not engaged in training can watch from a mezzanine level that also offers cool-down areas with comfortable seating, TVs and refreshments. A hydrotherapy tank allows athletes to practice swimming or other water-based conditioning, and advanced computer equipment is available to monitor their progress.
