Northwest Family YMCA Renovation and Expansion

The Northwest Family YMCA renovation and expansion involved demolishing an existing outdoor pool and replacing it with a new indoor natatorium and adjacent family changing room. The new pool features a zero-depth entry and children’s play structures. Lanes are provided for lap swimming and ample area is included for swim instruction. A steam room, a sauna and a whirlpool are located on the pool deck. Large windows give the natatorium a bright and warm feeling.

The new fitness center was designed for the front of the existing YMCA and includes a variety of exercise equipment. This heavily used area is near the new entrance of the Y, which now offers a fireplace, a café, casual seating and other spaces for gathering or socializing. The project also included the renovation or addition of program spaces such as a group exercise room, a childcare center, a multipurpose room and a teen center.

The project provided much-needed functional upgrades to the YMCA, as well as a new exterior appearance. The added height of the natatorium creates visual interest and draws attention to the facility from Clarksville Highway.
