Bill R. Foster and Family Recreation Center - Missouri State University

The Bill R. Foster and Family Recreation Center creates a campus connection that previously did not exist and activates pathways that were once mere sidewalks.

In fact, the center’s defining feature is the campus pass, which cuts through the building as its diagonal orientation points one way toward the student union and the other way toward the campus arena and arts center. This new path connects three major aspects of student life: social, recreation and wellness, and athletics and fine arts.

The building not only revitalizes and expands recreation programming, but also strengthens the campus culture and introduces basketball courts, a multiuse activity court, an indoor activity pool, a wellness suite, an outdoor bouldering area, administration space and other important amenities.

Additionally, the facility serves as a meeting place for the campus community, a focal point for campus recruitment, a symbol of health and wellness for the area and an iconic building for the City of Springfield.
