The Centennial Recreation Center is now Morgan Hill?s hub for multigenerational health, wellness and fitness. The facility?s large lobby is a central meeting spot for visitors and provides a natural transition between the center?s active recreation spaces (including an indoor water park, a gymnasium, an aerobics room, a fitness center and a children?s party room) and community spaces (featuring senior and teen centers, a child-care room, a computer lab and a multipurpose room with a commercialgrade kitchen). A primary design goal was to create an infrastructure and flexible spaces that accommodate a diversity of programming and equipment options.

Aesthetically, the center exudes contemporary dynamics and strength — an expression of the vibrant activity and movement inside. The subtle earth tones of the masonry walls unite the building with its natural environment, and the transparent glass walls showcase foothills and the picturesque El Toro Mountain. The vaulted natatorium wing springs forward, inviting residents into the center.

The facility also follows guidelines for LEED® Silver certification by using local building materials and efficient mechanical systems, as well as adhering to environmentally sensitive landscape details.
