Three fans suffered minor injuries Thursday when they were hit by a bolt that fell from the roof of Lucas Oil Stadium.

The injuries occurred just before the second half of the Indianapolis Colts’ preseason finale against the Cincinnati Bengals. Authorities said the bolt fell as the roof was opening.

“A bolt from the fixed structure sheared and dropped into seating section 248,” Barney Levengood, executive director of the Capital Improvement Board of Managers said in a statement.

Stadium officials said that medical personnel deemed all injuries “non-life threatening,” but one woman and one man were transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. The third fan, another man, was treated and released at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The accident is the second involving fans at Lucas Oil Stadium in the last two years.

In September 2013, during a regular season game against the Okaland Raiders, fans were leaning over a railing in the stadium’s lower bowl when it collapsed. Two men fell into a tunnel near the field, but neither was seriously hurt.

The Colts open the regular season September 13 on the road against Buffalo. They host the New York Jets on September 21.
