Ex-Buffalo Sabres enforcer Andrew Peters began his radio show Monday morning by saying "there's something I need to address."

Peters, 36, who coaches the 15-and-under Buffalo Junior Sabres hockey team, talked briefly about the altercation that broke out during a game Saturday at HarborCenter.

"Fighting in 'youth sports' is unacceptable ... in all sports, not just hockey," Peters said.

Peters added: "I did not do a good job this weekend communicating those skills to my team. I can't discuss anything in regard to the altercation. I have to move on from that."

Peters then shifted the topic to the Sabres' unsuccessful weekend trip to Colorado and Arizona.

Peters co-hosts "The Instigators," a two-hour daily morning show on WGR-AM 550 dedicated to hockey, with former Sabres captain Craig Rivet.

Sometimes, the emotional part of the game escalates on the ice and even among parents in the stands, Rivet said during the radio show.

"It's an emotional game," Rivet said.

Rivet went on to add that "so many players and teams across North America" have been involved in incidents similar to what happened Saturday at HarborCenter.

"There's no room for fighting and stuff like that in youth hockey," Rivet said.

"But, we got a lot to talk about today," Rivet said. "The Sabres dropped two bombs on their road trip."

Peters, in a video that circulated widely on social media after a melee broke out on the HarborCenter ice, is observed intervening from the bench in an altercation after a member of the opposing team attempted to engage the Buffalo Junior Sabres' bench.

Peters has been suspended from coaching the team indefinitely.
