Six Fans Arrested at Bengals-Steelers Playoff Game

Saturday night’s AFC wild-card playoff game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals was hotly contested, as two costly Bengals penalties helped the Steelers to an 18-16 win.

The action off the field at Cincinnati’s Paul Brown Stadium was just as intense, as six people — three Steelers fans and three Bengals fans — were arrested at the game, according to multiple media reports.

Two of the fans allegedly hit or punched women in the head or face, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. One of those fans, 19-year-old Jared McCarty, later admitted to having fake identification and consumed alcohol, the newspaper reported.

Perhaps the most bizarre incident involved public urination. From the Enquirer:

Martin Cooke, 33, of Germantown, Kentucky, was arrested after police said he urinated on the person in front of him in Paul Brown Stadium. Cooke, who wore a Bengals hoodie, is accused of fighting with the man and punching him in the face, court documents state. He is facing disorderly conduct and assault charges. Cooke is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

McCarty and another fan arrested Saturday also were scheduled to appear in court Monday. Court dates for the other three fans have not yet been scheduled.

Fans also reportedly threw cans and debris at Steelers players as they were leaving the field after their win. During the game, one fan threw a beer can at Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as he was being carted off the field with an injury.
