A brawl broke out at a fourth-grade basketball game after one of the coaches attacked a referee.

According to the USA Today, police in Charlotte Mecklenburg (N.C.) said an unnamed coach was angry about a call and hit a female referee with an open hand, leadiner her male counterpart — also the referee’s brother — to intervene in the scuffle.

“What makes it even more disturbing, you have a coach who is also a parent, who has a kid that’s playing, and he’s displaying this type of behavior,” said Edward Addie, president and founder of the Queen City Athletic Association, which hosted the basketball tournament inside North Ridge Middle School.

Addie said that the coach will be banned for life from participating in any tournaments hosted by the Queen City Athletic Association.

Police said the suspect has been identified but charges have not yet been filed.

“When you go to a point where you actually physically assault someone, I definitely think you should get arrested,” Addie said.
