A onetime girls soccer coach for Champlin Park High School who had pleaded guilty in January to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy was released from those charges Monday by an Anoka County District judge.

Judge Jonathan Jasper dismissed the charge of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct against Rebecca L. Noonan, 34, of Minneapolis. Noonan had pleaded guilty to having intercourse with the boy in his Ramsey home in 2014 while his mother was away.

Noonan's sentence included a "stay of adjudication," meaning her case would be dismissed if she met all requirements while on supervised probation for up to 10 years.

The judge's dismissal came after Noonan showed the court she had satisfied the terms, which included no contact with the boy, no use of alcohol or illegal drugs, no possessing of weapons, and completing treatment for "dependency needs, emotional needs and personal needs," according to court records.

When she entered her guilty plea in January, Noonan acknowledged in a court questionnaire that "I was so drunk or so under the influence of drugs or medicine that I did not know what I was doing at the time of the crime."

Noonan came to know the boy because she was a friend of the family.

Noonan joined the Champlin Park soccer program in 2007 as an assistant coach and became head coach in 2012. Along with her coaching duties at Champlin Park, Noonan ran a soccer camp during the summer on the high school grounds. School officials chose not to renew her contract in July 2015, about the time she was charged.
