Two members of the Ohio State University football team have been charged with rape and kidnapping after a woman accused them of sexual assault.
Amir I. Riep, a 185-pound cornerback entering his senior season, and Jahsen L. Wint, a 198-pound redshirt senior safety, were arrested and booked into Franklin County Jail early Wednesday. The 21-year-old men will be arraigned Thursday morning.
According to a police report, the incident in question was alleged to have occurred the evening of Feb. 4 at Riep’s apartment.
An account of the incident published by The Columbus Dispatch claimed that Riep and the accuser were initially having consensual sex. The woman stopped, moved away and said she did not want to continue. At that time, Wint entered the room and asked if he could join them.
Wint then “allegedly grabbed the woman by the neck and forced her onto her hands and knees and then raped her,” according to the Dispatch’s reporting. Riep then held her in place by the hips and with his body, while Wint forced oral sex. The woman pushed Wint away but he forced her again to have oral sex.
After Riep and Wint stopped, Riep told the woman that she needed to say that the sex was consensual on a video recording. Riep can reportedly be heard laughing in the background on the recording.
Ohio State spokesman Ben Johnson issued the following statement in response to the incident:
We are aware that two of our students have been arrested and criminally charged. They have been suspended from all activities involving the football program. We will share more information when available.
