The University of Missouri and LSU football game has reportedly moved locations due to the incoming Hurricane Delta.
With the Category 4 hurricane expected to reach southeast Louisiana on Friday night or Saturday morning, The Baton Rouge Advocate reported Tuesday that Saturday’s Southeastern Conference game is being relocated from Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge to Faurot Field in Columbia, Mo.
“As we continue to monitor the path of Hurricane Delta, all preparations are being made to accommodate playing the game as scheduled in Baton Rouge or to move the game if necessary,” SEC spokesman Herb Vincent said in a statement Tuesday.
The Advocate reported that school officials also discussed moving the game to Houston’s NRG Stadium or Arlington’s AT&T Stadium, although both sites are scheduled to host NFL games Sunday.
LSU has booked hotel rooms in Columbia, according to KOMU-TV in Columbia. The NBC affiliate reported that a Missouri spokesperson said the university is preparing to host Saturday’s game, but has also kept hotel rooms in Baton Rouge in case the game is able to be played there.
According to ESPN, the SEC is expected to officially announce the move Wednesday morning, and move the game up from 9 p.m. ET to 12 p.m. ET.
