In his first budget as Wisconsin governor, Tony Evers is earmarking $126 million for capital projects at two University of Wisconsin athletics venues.
Milwaukee's NBC affiliate WTMJ reports that Camp Randall Stadium on the UW campus in Madison would see $77.6 million in upgrades in the Evers budget released March 7. Half of the bleachers in the stadium's south end zone would be replaced by an 11,000-square-foot field-level club space, 7,500 square feet of loge-level premium club space and 7,000 square feet for an exterior terrace-club area. The synthetic turf field would also be replaced.
Wisconsin engaged holistic experiential services agency Legends in 2015 to conduct a comprehensive study incorporating a survey and series of focus groups to solicit direct market feedback from ticket holders, alumni and Badger fans on the future of Camp Randall Stadium. Legends will continue to assist the university with the upcoming stadium renovation.
Funds for the 21-year-old Kohl Center would remodel and expand locker rooms for the menās and womenās basketball teams and add equipment for the arena's sports medicine facility. The Badgers' golf, hockey, swimming and tennis programs, as well as the cheerleading and dance teams, would likewise benefit from the Kohl Center investment.
