Clemson Details Supplements Given to Football Players

Clemson has been forced into full transparency when it comes to what types of supplements are given to its football players.

The school on Monday released a list of nutritional and dietary supplements that players ingested during the 2018 season. The list included everything from Rice Krispie treats to Cliff Bars, both of which were introduced in January and March of 2018.

According to The Post and Courier, the Tigers in December had three players banned from two College Football Playoff games for testing positive for the performance-enhancing drug ostarine. Head coach Dabo Swinny has claimed it might have come from something the school gave its players by mistake.

The detailed list includes substances and dates. For instance, Clemson football players were offered Muscle Milk Pro Series, Muscle Milk Cytosport, Thorne Double Strength Zinc Picolinate, ESSNTL Gatorade recovery powder and Centrum multivitamins on Oct. 10.

Clemson is required to officially confirm that any nutritional supplement given to athletes complies with NCAA rules.

Dexter Lawrence, Braden Galloway and Zach Giella tested positive for ostarine before the Cotton Bowl and were banned from both that game and Clemson’s victory over Alabama in the national championship game.

"I do want to know how it got in my system and where it came from," Lawrence said. "But right now, they are still doing their research to see where exactly it came from, and they don't know where right now."
