Facility Friday: Florida Baseball, Temple Football Stadium and More

The University of Florida announced plans to enhance baseball and softball facilities, including building a new stadium for the baseball program. The plans call for upgrades to the current softball stadium, and for the building of a 10,000-seat ballpark at a combined cost of $130 million. The baseball stadium will include a 360-degree open concourse, enhanced concessions areas and modernized locker room space, a training room, batting cages, a practice field, and new coaches offices. The baseball project is expected to cost about $50 million, and is expected to be complete ahead of the 2020 season. —Source: FloridaGators.com

Oklahoma State University began construction on a new $60 million baseball stadium on Thursday. The new stadium will have a seating capacity of 6,000-6,500, but be able to expand to 8,000. Other features include a 360-degree concourse, a 7,400-square-foot locker room, a sports medicine area, a weight room, and a unique dark glass wall in center field that will allow fans views of the action. The project will replace the 38-year-old Allie P. Reynolds Stadium, and is expected to be complete by spring 2020. —Source: TulsaWorld.com

Temple University released additional details and renderings of its proposed 35,000-seat football stadium. In a presentation viewable below, the University addressed community concerns regarding the project. Using Google Street view images and renderings, it shows how the proposed facility would impact the neighborhood. The school hopes to have city approvals in order by June. Wake Forest University celebrated the grand opening of the newly transformed Reynolds Gym, now known as the Wake Forest Wellbeing Center. The final phase of the project includes a new 25-yard, eight-lane pool, which replaces the pool originally built in 1956. Glass walls and three-story arched windows provide plenty of natural light for the space. In addition to the pool, the final phase featured 50,000 square feet of renovated fitness space, multipurpose rooms and a court for the women’s volleyball team. —Source: Wake Forest News
