Penn State University police and the FBI are investigating a tweet that warned of an impending mass shooting at Beaver Stadium.

According to a report from the Times Leader, a Twitter user operating under the username @DanielTheDuck8 tweeted Wednesday night: “I have decided that I’m going to commit the biggest mass shooting in history of the world, killing thousands of fans in beaver stadium during one of the games next year.”

The tweet tagged the State College Police Department and a number of Penn State fan accounts. The user’s account has since been deleted.

PSU officials and the FBI are calling the tweet a “potential threat.” A statement from PSU police acknowledged the threat but also said there is “no immediate danger to the Penn State community.”

PSU’s football team will open the 2018 season at Beaver Stadium on Sept. 1 against Appalachian State.
